We came ill-equipped for Times Square in the rain - plastic bags on our heads did the trick just fine.
We just about mastered the subway system.
And then, after a busy day in Chinatown, we discussed our plans for the evening over a lovely dinner at Little Italy. My sister's friend KayDee was so very fascinated by the Empire State Building, and wanted to be absolutely sure we made time for that on our trip - she politely suggested maybe we could do that tonight? My sister Sarah was very supportive of her desire to see the Empire State Building that night. And so we did.
After waiting in the security lines for over an hour, we finally made it to the top of the Empire State Building, where the wind chill made it absolutely freezing. New York City was experiencing record lows that week. The wind chill at the top made it even worse.
I frolicked about intently trying to spot the Brooklyn Bridge. I did not expect to receive a bear hug from behind while I was trying to take pictures of the New York skyline. When I looked down at the hands that were hugging me, all I saw were man hands. Man hands holding a rose.
sweet!

Awwwww...
ReplyDeleteI love that story! Who knows how, but I had actually forgotten that that was how you got engaged! Thanks for the re-cap and the fun pictures.
Glad you guys are doing so well. You are an amazing couple!
Awe is right. What a champ to think of such a romantic way to propose. I just heart you two! Plus I get to see both of you almost everyday--which makes me feel lucky!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it has been 2 years. CONGRATS!
Love that! How sweet is he!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love your story! I feel so honored to have been in loop when you got engaged....oh, wait! That's right, I had no idea Natalie and Rhett were that serious. I, the happy-go-lucky roommate/cousin/best friend, was still telling everyone, "it'll probably happen in the next FEW MONTHS."
ReplyDeleteNone the less, I was please as punch when you got engaged. What can I say, I'm on TEAM BUTTARS!
Loved hearing the story again...what a creative & sweet hubby you have and such a great-looking couple. Crazy how fast the years fly by, huh!
