San Francisco awaits

We're going to San Fancisco on Wednesday for our 1 year anniversary! I'm so excited. We're staying at the San Francisco Marriott, below.

.............
We've both never been there and we are quite looking forward to it. Any tips or must-see advice? I want to ride a bike across the Golden Gate Bridge, I'd love to see Alcatraz, and Rhett already got tickets to a San Francisco Giants game. So far, that's the list. So if you've been before and loved something, please share!

  1. How fun! I'm a tad jealous. We are definitely due for a vacation.

When we went to Thailand we had a 5 or 6 hour layover in San Fran so we decided to go exploring. We got on a bus that we though would to take us to Golden Gate Bridge, but really it took us to Golden Gate Park....with a view of the bridge.

Then we ate some lunch at a little cafe and headed back to the airport. Haha, that's the only time I've been to San Francisco. :D

  2. I was in San Fran about 8 years ago. We visited the Ghiradeli chocolate factory, Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, and I even braved Chinatown by myself. I am sure a lot of things have changed in the last 8 years, but we did have a good time shopping and eating yummy San Fransisco style food. Whatever you end up doing, it'll be fun.

  3. Have fun you two!

A Giants game? Sweet! I think you should sit outside the left field wall in a kyak and catch home runs. That sounds like a good idea.

  4. The only thing I have ever done in San Fran is wait during an 8 hour layover puking by myself in the bags from the sweet flight attendant--while trying to sleep on those uncomfotable seats.

My Mom loves that bridge and Alcatraz. Hope you have a wonderful trip. Happy one year!

  5. how fun! I'm jealous... I love that place! If you like clam chowder it's always fun to do a little taste testing of all they offer and choose your favorite and then eat it in a bread bowl. Pier 39 is always fun. Ghiradeli square is great (but it might still be under construction.. although take a trip to the little store, they'll give you free chocolate and the ice-cream is yummy. I wasn't a fan of their hot chocolate though.. that's just my personal opinion) It's always fun to stare at the sea lions and watch them interact with each other and listen to all the people attempting to sound like them...haha I like that. You can't go wrong in that city- so much to see and do. Watch out for the bush man, he hides on the sidewalks and jumps out at people- it's quite hilarious unless it's you he's scaring. The silver and gold guys are great to watch.. most of the street performers are so fun. You could entertain yourself by people watching all day. Take the trolly- and drive down lumbard street. Like I said, you can't go wrong in the city... don't plan too much because it's always fun to just see where the wind blows you- that's my only real advice... that city is always changing and so are the people there that's why it's fun to just kind of go with it. I hope you have fun and congrats on the 1 year! (sorry for such a long comment...haha I love San Fran, just in case you couldn't tell)
