30-day notice

It's official. We're moving. Our landlord just announced that they're selling the house, hence our 30-day notice.

Where? That's a good question. That's where you - my dear friends - come in. After craig's list disappointed, I spent the weekend driving up and down the streets of Layton and Kaysville keeping a keen eye out for "For Rent" signs... but so far no luck. So anyone know of anyone looking to move out of their really awesome apartment in the next month? Do you have a distant relative who'd love to rent out their basement to a very tidy newlywed couple? We're not incredibly picky this time around... our goal is to be able to save a good percentage of our income every month so that we can save up faster for a down payment on a house. Now, I'm aware that the quality of dwelling decreases rapidly as the rent decreases, but I'm hoping for a miracle! We'd love to stay in the $500 - $700 range (or less, obviously), and I'd like to feel safe there even when I'm home alone. I know it's a tall order, but I feel like it could happen.

For example, Craig's list had a cute little house for rent in "Historic Downtown Ogden" for $390/month. Right on Washington Blvd. I couldn't bring myself to call on it. Affordable, sure. But I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable taking the trash out by myself late at night, so that kills the deal.

Cheap and safe. Is that so much to ask?
Any help would be much appreciated!

happy early late valentine's day!

Rhett sent me these lovely flowers at work on the day before Valentine's Day, which caught me completely off guard. I wasn't expecting a thing on the day before! However in all honesty, I was expecting something on Valentine's DAY (is that wrong?). So he figured out a way to surprise me! Clever little minx.

And for additional brownie points on top of an already huge brownie point sundae, the flowers came with a box of chocolate covered strawberries. Well done, lad. Well done. The card said Happy Early Valentine's Day, but it wasn't signed. So I guess I assumed Rhett was the sender. Maybe he's taking credit for a gift my secret admirer sent? Hmmm. Delicious either way.

effortless

Well, I keep feeling like I need to give some real attention to my tired old blog. But then every time I sit down to do it, I just don't feel like it. So today I've added a seriously huge picture to my blog title because I just discovered this feature in the customize options. It won't stay long, because I can't make it any less overwhelming. The options are either huge or not there. So today it will be huge, in a few days it will be not there.

As for the above picture, it's one of the most sentimental of all the pictures I have. Until last week I didn't know if its existence. My lil sis Sarah took it of us and its been trapped in her digital files ever since.

This photo was taken in Italy, sitting on a bridge over a river somewhere on the outskirts of Rome. I think the backdrop is gorgeous, but more moving is the emotion that this shot captures for me. We had only been married about 2 1/2 weeks here, and I was feeling as blissful as a girl could feel. I love this man more than I ever knew was possible, and felt as content as I've ever been. Just effortlessly happy. Little did I know that is just gets better and better with each day that goes by. No exotic trip to Europe necessary, our relationship just gets better with time. Even the hard days make it better, the boring days make it better, the long days, the crazy days, the nice days, the mellow days, the happy days and the sad ones. They all make it better. But when I look at this picture, my heart catches a little and I'm right back there wandering the streets of Rome with my brand new husband and all the family members I love so dearly, looking for another corner gilato shop and just taking it all in. I constantly feel like I don't deserve such a good life, but I'm grateful every day for it. So for now, I'll take it. And when the bad times come, I'll take those too.

What do you know, a few minutes of typing later, I've come up with something to say. It's nice when that happens.
